The Chief Executive of Hong Kong announced Mainland China will fully reopen the border with Hong Kong and Macau on 6th February 2023. Also, remove all the COVID-19 restriction and quotas on arrivals from either side.
What’s NEW?
- No more quotas and pre-departure Covid-19 test for travellers; no booking is required to cross the border
- Full border reopening between mainland China and Hong Kong to resume from Monday
- All border crossing points, including Lo Wu, Heung Yuen Wai-Liantang and Lok Ma Chau, will reopen
- Pre-departure rapid antigen tests (RAT) for travellers from Macau to Hong Kong will be dropped
- Lift Vaccination requirements for overseas arrivals
- RAT pre-departure tests for travellers from overseas and Taiwan will remain for now to manage risks
- Gradual resumption of travel for cross-border students from 8th February, 2023; starting with secondary school pupils and later for primary level, kindergartens and special schools
However, travellers entering mainland China from Hong Kong or Macau who have travelled overseas in the previous 7-day must still obtain a negative Covid-19 PCR test result taken within 48 hours of their departure.
